

The Umbrian town of Corciano and the Transylvanian Sighişoara won the 58th Europe Prize, rewarding the dynamism of their town twinning agreements and their action in favour of the European construction. The submission of applications for the 2013 Europe Prize is now open to all European municipalities.

In preparation of the 2013 European Year of Citizens, the European Commission invites all citizens to take part in a consultation it organizes on the rights they benefit from under the EU treaties.


European cities and municipalities with a swimming pool are encouraged to open it to the public on 1 June 2011, at the occasion of the International Children´s Day, with the aim of organising a swimming competition.
Since today, Europe Day, a new tool is given to cities in order to promote their municipality European identity and to cooperate with other cities and civil society organizations through all Europe.

With the support of the European Commission, the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) and its German section (RGRE) organised the third regional seminar on "Which twinning for which Europe?", on 9 November 2010 in Cologne, Germany.

Municipalities and cities are invited to submit their application to set up town twinning project. Applications must be sent to the European Commission until 15 February 2010.
The European Commission awarded four town twinning projects with the 'Golden Stars of active European citizenship in a ceremony taking place in Brussels the 16 December 2009.
